DESCRIPTION

The largest and highest waterfall in the Massif of Śnieżnik is at the same time the highest waterfall in the Sudetes. It formed on the tectonic fault line from which the Wilczka River falls into a hollow 22 meters below and rushes further along a narrow canyon known as an American canyon with vertical walls rising to the height of even 25 m. Currently, revitalisation works are drawing to an end with the aim to provide tourists with a safe access to this exceptional attraction. The area surrounding the waterfall is covered with beautiful old mixed forest dotted with picturesque rocky outcrops. Since 1958 the waterfall and its immediate vicinity have been a protected area and form the Wilczka Waterfall Nature Reserve. The area around the reserve has been adapted for sightseeing. A bridge has been thrown over the waterfall, and paths and steps leading to panoramic terraces have been built allowing sightseers to admire various vistas of the waterfall and its canyon.

The reserve is located immediately at the entrance to Międzygórze, it can be reached directly from the parking lot located nearby or by the new promenade from the town’s historic centre.No admission fee is collected.
